"People may say he was only a dog, that I allowed him to mean far too much. But our deepest communication is without words, and what Goofy gave me was a canine lesson in love: utterly single-minded devotion. "

OK that was the saddest story EVER...T.T

BUT worth the read

OMG that is such a great story, but also a sad one. I am so happy that he had a good life after leaving Greece. I wonder how many people would have gone to such extremes to save a dog? I know we all would, but others not so "pet friendly" would have just ignored him and gone home. The ending reminded me so much of the end with Gizmo. Thanks for posting, even if it made me cry. Lovely. I just bawled my eyes out. I think any of us who've lost a dog who meant so much to us will relate quickly to this story.

I read that story full well knowing were it was headed!!!

The end of the story is the same as mine, but the events were a little different. (Im sure we can all say that).

One line in the story made it all come back for me. It made me re-live the last hour of Chip's life, and I remembered the prosess I went through to make one of the most difficult desissions of my life.

The line was:
I will never, ever forget the next 20 minutes, as I prepared to kill the dog who loved me.

Im sure that all of us who have been thru the loss of a pet felt the same way at this point in the story.

In my case, I felt a tear coming ... and at the same EXACT second, Patchs came over and jump up, put her front paws in my lap and gave me a big sloppy kiss on the face. THAT JESTURE reminds me of why I put myself thru the pain of loosing a dog!!!
