Question What breed is Scooby?

We were watching one of those Scooby Doo movies last night that is with real people, not animated(except for Scooby). We tried to figure out, What IS he? A Dane maybe, but he has the darker brown spot on his back and one of his legs. A mix maybe? Or like Wayne said, "just a dog, whatever you want him to be". What do ya'll think?

They always call him a "mangy mutt" so I imaged he would be a Dane mix.lol.

Yeh, sort of a mutt due to them changing the look of the Great Dane so that it didn't look too much like Marmaduke.

Hanna and Barbera artist/character designer Iwao Takamoto consulted a studio colleague who happened to be a breeder of Great Danes. After learning the characteristics of a prize-winning Great Dane from her, Takamoto proceeded to break most of the rules and designed Scooby Doo (originally to be named Too Much) with overly bowed legs, a double chin, and a sloped back, among other abnormalities.
