Before I got into Schutzhund and French Ring I had Brittany and Pointer (aka English Pointer) that I trialed and worked.

I have a 6 month old GSP that i'm currently training for the show ring and the field towards his hunting title.
I've been working with his breeder seeing she has the parents and a littermate.
She gave me a GREAT book on training called" How to Help Gundogs Train Themselves" by Joan Bailey
It's been a great tool and we have been using every step in the book, she trained my pups father and mother with this book and they are great hunters in the field.
you can find it on i believe.

best of luck with your GSP
