Have known a few pittys but definitely not the dog for me. My neighbor had an awesomely sweet girl I knew from 6 months until her death of natural causes (if you call cancer a natural cause). LOVED that dog but would not DARE to climb in the window when my neighbor locked herself out one day. Dolly (as many of the pittys in my neighborhood) was highly territorial. If I had climbed through that kitchen window to let her Momma in I have no doubt whatsoever she would have had at me. It seems to be in their nature. My cockers may bark irrationally and really be a PITA but they're not gonna rip your throat out.

Dogs are territorial by nature. Almost ALL dogs. It can be worked with. My brother rescues bully breeds and I've never been afraid to go into his house unescorted. Some that he has had were dog aggressive, but sweet as can be with any other animal and really loving with humans. I'm not referring to one dog but many. I'd guess he's adopted more than 15 in the past 20 years and currently has 4 living together in harmony.

Whatever anyone thinks of them, they certainly don't deserve what is being done with them and to them. Many shelters won't even consider adopting them out. There are so many of them being bred with no homes to go to. Same boat Rotties were in 20 years ago. Probably worse, actually.

German Shepherds and Dobbie's went thru it too!

When I was in grade school there was a Rin-Tin-Tin look alike down the street that my parents wouldnt let us go near b/c a GSD attacked a guy on a farm in our area. I guess it was the dog's fault that the guy was there stealing gas from the fuel tanks and the farm dog was loose guarding the farm.

IMHO, the BSL problems are a direct result of poorly educated public. The same poor education is the main reason we have over massive over population, BYB'ers, and ppl turning "the wrong dog for thier family" into the shelters and rescues.

We need to find a way to teach and train people. The rest will fall in place!

Unnerstand for sure! I went thru a bad spell when my vet up and left and had a heck of a time finding a new vet for my Cocker Spaniels! Cockers have a rep for being snippy - not that mine do...
